AI Voice Overs a Mess in the Finals Game
Embark Studios has recently launched The Finals, a team-based first-person shooter, into open beta on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation. Since its release, the game has gained popularity among players and has reached a peak concurrent player count of 229,992 on Steam on October 29th. Additionally, many thousands of players are expected to participate in the open beta on consoles.
The game places players in a virtual combat show with crowds and commentary. The environments are fully destructible, allowing players to change and even destroy their surroundings to gain the upper hand.
However, The Finals is now facing criticism for its use of “terrible” AI announcers in-game. Despite the game’s overall popularity, some players are complaining that the AI announcers are not up to par and detract from the overall experience. It remains to be seen whether Embark Studios will address these concerns and make improvements moving forward.
