Thailand’s Senate overwhelmingly approved a bill legalizing same-sex marriage, making it the first Southeast Asian nation to do so. This “monumental step forward” for LGBTQ+ rights grants same-sex couples legal rights equal to heterosexual couples, including inheritance, adoption, and healthcare. With only royal endorsement remaining, Thailand is poised to become the third Asian country to legalize same-sex marriage, following Taiwan and Nepal.
